“We are proud to work with SAISD to provide these services as it’s part of our mission to ensure the best care for athletes all across West Texas,” said Mark Duncan, Director of Shannon Sports Medicine. In addition to the physicals, Shannon was also recognized for a recent partnership to provide Shannon’s ASU clinical trainers as support on-site at SAISD middle school football games throughout the season to help ensure safe competitive sports for student athletes. Andrew King accepted the recognition on behalf of Shannon.
Shannon Sports Medicine team members, Director of Shannon Sports Medicine Mark Duncan, Outreach Coordinator and Athletic Trainer Kevin Saverance and physician Dr. This partnership is extremely beneficial to all involved and we look forward to its continued development,” said SAISD Executive Director of Athletics Rodney Chant.ĭistrict representatives emphasized how providing the physicals is a critical service, particularly when administered at no-cost by Shannon, and where many SAISD families are under-resourced and may struggle to cover the costs of a physical.
“The coaches and the athletes of San Angelo ISD are very appreciative to Shannon, and its support of all of our athletes and band members by providing physicals free of charge.
Last Monday, the San Angelo ISD Board of Education together with SAISD administrators recognized Shannon Medical Center (Shannon) for providing approximately 2,000 free physical examinations over the last two years for students participating in SAISD extracurricular activities like football, marching band and soccer.
